Hyaluronic acid
Hyaluronic acid
Hyaluronic acid is one of the basic, natural ingredients of the skin. It is extremely important for our skin – it is responsible for its hydration, firmness and proper tension.
With age, the amount of hyaluronic acid in the skin gradually decreases leading to adverse changes in the condition of the skin. The skin becomes flaccid, less elastic, dries out, the face loses its volume, and wrinkles and furrows appear on the surface. This condition is aggravated by other tissue changes associated with aging – loss of subcutaneous fat, changes in the skeletal and fascial systems. As a result of these changes, the face becomes less attractive, sad, loses its natural glow, proportions. In the case of aging of the hand skin, they lose their volume, the tendons running under the skin become visible giving them an unsightly, unattractive look.
Aesthetic medicine has the appropriate methods to undo these adverse changes and make the condition of the skin improve definitely – it will regain its former radiance and elasticity, the face will become more proportional and younger.
Hyaluronic acid is one of the most commonly used fillers. The preparation of hyaluronic acid, appropriately administered depending on the indication, will not only fill up its deficiency, but will also fill the wrinkles and furrows, improve the face oval, give volume to the cheeks, mold the lips. In addition, despite the gradual degradation of the preparation, after the filling effect disappears, a significant improvement of the skin condition is visible – the administration of acid stimulates the natural regeneration processes.

Procedure
Contemporary fillers based on hyaluronic acid are very diverse – they differ in the density of the acid, its cohesiveness and plasticity. The doctor, after prior consultation, selects the appropriate acid depending on the area of the procedure and the Patient’s expectations.
The procedure is performed after prior anaesthesia of the skin with the use of anaesthetic cream. If a catheter is used, only the injection site is anaesthetized (anaesthesia with lignocaine). Some fillers contain lignocaine in the composition, thanks to which we have another protection against possible pain.
During the procedure, the patient feels only a slight prick. The filler is injected into the relevant areas of the skin. After administration, local swelling is sometimes observed, small hematomas may appear in the injection sites. The effect is visible almost immediately and most often lasts for 6-12 months.
